The characteristics of colds and how to prevent it in the rainy season

The rainy season makes many people vulnerable to several health problems. One of them is catch a cold. Prevent and treat colds with the following easy tips. Cold air, overtime in the office, coming home from work in the rain, staying up late, lack of sleep, lack of rest, plus not maintaining food intake, makes anyone vulnerable to catch a cold. This condition usually strikes when the transition season or the rainy season arrives.

Characteristics of colds

Although widely known in society for generations, the term colds was apparently not known in the medical world. Usually the symptoms of colds in the form of body feels uncomfortable, cold, chills, headaches, muscle aches, loss of appetite, and feeling tired. In addition, other symptoms of colds can also be demonstrated by the body feels warm or fever, flatulence, frequent abdominal pain, frequent bowel movements and smelly, diarrhea, and aches. A collection of symptoms that occur during colds is similar to flu symptoms, but the exact cause is difficult to determine.

Prevent colds

When catching a cold, make sure the body gets rest and adequate nutrition and fluid intake. However, of course it would be more fun if you do not experience the common colds at all. Come on, prevent colds in the rainy season with the following healthy steps:
  • Use headgear to protect it from wind, cold air and rain water.
  • Wash your hands with soap and clean water, especially before eating, after using the toilet, playing with animals, interacting with sick people, and using public transportation.
  • Get a flu shot.
  • Eat healthy and nutritionally balanced foods.
  • Drink lots of water.
  • Don't share cutlery with other people.
  • Do not touch the face, especially the eyes, mouth and nose.
  • Diligent in exercising.
  • Get enough sleep.
  • Do not drink alcoholic beverages.
  • Avoid caffeine and cigarettes.
  • Take a warm bath or use a humidifier to help relieve the airway.
For Indonesians, scrapings, drinking warm sweet tea or herbal medicine are considered sufficient to overcome the symptoms of colds experienced. But, do not be careless or consider trivial colds. Especially if the abdominal pain and bloating experienced does not disappear, there are complaints of severe chest pain that radiates to the jaw, neck, back, or arms, diarrhea or constipation constantly, weight loss, there is blood in the stool, and signs appear infection (for example fever or chills). These symptoms can be a sign of a more serious health disorder and need to be treated by a doctor immediately.
